update from the SUPERSUCKERS
[from the SUPERSUCKERS latest email update]
What-is-up, peoples? Your good friend Eddie Spaghetti here, writing you again from what is perhaps the only place in the country under 100 degrees right now. It's actually REALLY nice here in Seattle these days - 75, partly cloudy, not much humidity to speak of - I'm talkin' nice. It's funny to me because the Northwest tends to be a little more "green" in it's philosophies than a lot of the country in that there a lot of hybrid cars, lots of carpooling bus riders and bicyclers and recyclers and whatnot and yet we're relatively untouched by the harsh realities of global warming. I guess it really shouldn't surprise me because I've often noticed that the ones who tend to help others out the most are the ones you might least expect to. For example, I seldom see a person wearing a nice suit or driving an expensive car ever give a dime to a homeless person, but do I see the guy driving the beat up '87 Corolla wearing ragged shorts and old shoes kick down a dollar to the "less fortunate" ALL THE TIME! That's what I'm saying.ANYWAY, that's not what I'm writing to talk about. I just wanna throw a little info your way and that info is all about the Supersuckers, man! Our new record, "Paid", just came out and, while we have sold a couple thousand of 'em right away, we'd sure like to sell a whole lot more, so I kindly ask those of you who have it already to take a moment of your precious time and log on to Amazon or iTunes and tell the world what you think of it with a nice, four or five star review. (Or six!) It sure would be great to read some of your opinions on the rock we put out there and it just might help Mr. Average Joe out there pick up something good for a change! In other news, I'll be heading out to Denver and Park City this weekend for a couple of extra special Eddie Spaghetti with Jordan Shapiro shows. In Denver we'll be backed up by the amazing Railbenders, that city's finest outlaw country band and in Park City we'll be playing up at Snowbird where I will try to retain my title as the best downhill luge-with-wheels champion against the formidable Jordan Shapiro.Next will be a couple of Supersuckers shows, one on the 17th at the Brick By Brick in San Diego (which I'm stoked to say will be with the incredible Rhino Bucket!) and then on the 18th in L.A. at the Viper Room. Oh hey, we're doing another one of our infamous eBay auctions to come to this Viper Room show, which is a private deal, I think, and if I'm not mistaken, it has something to do with Billy Gibbons, (he's hosting the event, or signing the check or ordering the enchiladas, I believe. Something like that!) so you'll wanna get in on this action for sure!Well, we just finished our trip with Social Distortion and we were so good (apparently) that they had to have more Supersuckers action, so it looks like we'll be hitting the road with them again in October. (Although I don't think I'm supposed to tell you yet, so you didn't hear it from me!) The last trip with them was super cool, Mike Ness really surprised me with his nice, one-of-the-guys ways. One memorable moment was when we played Red Rocks in Colorado. We were super stoked to get to play at this place - we've always wanted to rock the "rocks", but at the last minute we found out that this band called Tiger Army was added to the bill and that they were getting "the slot" - the spot right before Social D. We were so bummed out by this information that I went straight to Mike and told him how disappointed we were. He was so cool about it. First of all, he had no idea they were on the bill, much less in our slot and he raised hell with his management for not telling him about it. Then, he pulled me aside and apologized for the whole thing and asked me how he could make it up to me. Now, keep in mind that this band was SO much worse than I thought a band had a right to be, (Really, they were just about the most terrible thing I've ever seen in my life and apparently, Mr. Ness agrees with that sentiment!), so I said that he could make it up to me by letting me play bass with Social Distortion the next night in Aspen. Well, he agreed, and I got to rock my favorite song of theirs, "Highway 101" with them the next night. Now, THAT'S what I call a "rock-n-roll moment"!Super fun, super cool, Supersuckers style. All right, sorry this note is so long and thanks for reading the whole thing. I know it's probably too hot to read emails and I really appreciate your time.Eat a popsicle!Eddie Spaghetti
