one book...

One book that changed your life.
Too many to pick just one - most of these are more about changing the way I perceived something or opening my eyes to something I hadn’t thought of before – “Catcher in the Rye,” “Siddhartha”, “The Lathe of Heaven,” “Ulysses”, “The Bell Jar”, & more recently, “the Name of the World,” “Jarhead” and Joan Didion’s, “The Year of Magical Thinking”

One book that you’ve read more than once.
"the Name of the World" (among many other! I reread most books I love)

One book you’d want on a desert island.
While the temptation would be to pick something like the complete Shakespeare or the Collected Joyce, I think I’d have to opt for the SAS Survival Handbook – something that would be really practical. I can always make up my own stories if I have to.

One book that made you laugh.
“The World According to Garp”

One book that made you cry.
“The God of Small Things” though “Wuthering Heights,” & “Death Be Not Proud” are right up there too…

One book that you wish had been written.
My brother and I talked about writing a book together – I wish we’d done that. I also wish Denis Johnson & Chris Offutt would get around to writing more books...please?

One book that you wish had never been written.
So many!! But “The DaVinci Code” is a good candidate for this one…or “The Rules”.

One book you’re currently reading.
“Exit A”

One book you’ve been meaning to read.
"Remembrance of Things Past"
