BARRELHOUSE BUZZ:

BARRELHOUSE BUZZ:
November 2006: Saturday Night's Allright for Barrelhousing Edition

====================

RELEASE PARTY THIS SATURDAY! WOO-HOO!

This will be a quick one, Barrelhouse Peoples. Just wanted to remind
you
that the DC release party for big, bad, Barrelhouse 3 is THIS SATURDAY
NIGHT.

DETAILS:
-- Time: 8 til 10 (readings start at 8:30)
-- Location: Big Hunt (in the basement) 1345 Conn. Ave. NW, Washington, DC
-- Metro: DuPont Circle Metro, South Exit, Red Line
-- Cover: $5 at the door (all proceeds to help offset printing costs)

Kate Stein will be reading from her story "Resin," and Paul Maliszewski
will provide a Very Special sneak preview of issue 4 with his story
"Dear President Bush."

In addition, there'll be poetry, Ed Asner poetry, and HAIR METAL.

Let us be clear about this last issue: THERE WILL HAIR METAL, PEOPLE.

Acoustically rendered, with a minimum of hairspray and pyrotechnics,
but HAIR METAL nonetheless. And as Vince Neil and Sebastian Bach
have been trying oh so hard to tell us all these years, nothing
goes together quite like poetry and HAIR METAL.

Come on out! Bring all your friends. We hope to see you there!

NEW ISSUE!

As if we haven't reminded you enough, we've got a new issue to pimp,
so let the pimping begin. We've got interviews with George Saunders
and Chuck Klosterman, which right there is pretty much worth the cover
price, if you ask us. Plus the special section featuring Ed Asner
poetry.

Barrelhouse Issue 3 also contains our usual mix of non-Asner-related
poetry, artwork and short stories, including one about a guy who just
might break things off with his girlfriend because she doesn't have the
proper appreciation for Neutral Milk Hotel, and a story by a fellow
named Chris Rock, but not that Chris Rock. And loads more great stuff.

THE SITE/STORY:

Our friends at Yankee Pot Roast are always funny, but especially so
in this story/thing, "Mutant 70s Television Hybrids," by Dale Dobson.

Sample:

Charlie's Company: A Viet Cong military operative infiltrates the
United States, where he struggles to conceal his covert activities from two
female roommates and a nosy landlord.
